Things I learned in my years of training Wing Tchun and as a templar knight:
- Face it. Do not run away. Be it a person, a mental conflict or any other situation.
You face it. Head on. - Do not lie to yourself. Search for the truth.
Within you, in circumstances.
Even if it hurts.
You DO NOT lie to yourself and others.
Truth is KING. - Endure the pain.
Growth is painful. In order to grow you must endure the growing pains. There is no other way. - Be wise!
„Choose your battles wisely“, they say.
Yes, face the challenges thrown at you, but do not engage in situations, that do not hold any value. - Retreat!
Know when to retreat, to regain strength, learn, refocus, heal.
Know when you are not ready to face a battle, to face a challenge. - Do not show who you truely are. Only to the innermost circle of the most trustworthy around you.
Others may think of you what they want. It does not matter at all.
People only judge with their eyes and then are very surprised when being defeated by their own misjudgement.
Discernment must be intuitive, not based on appearance.
I studied Wing Chun at the WTEO run by a short turkish guy called Salih Afci.
A slim and physically not impressive guy, that can kill you within seconds, with his bear hands, using no brutal force at all.
Knowing that fighting has nothing to do with physical strength, height or appearance.
Fighting first is a matter of speed and mind.
In all areas of life.
People very often are quite successful in life in terms of economic matters, but most often completely fail in terms of relationships and healthy social interactions, that make life worth living and warm.
That is because – as Don Juan teaches the apprentice – the FIRST warrior to face is the enemy within YOU.
DO NOT PROCEED without having defeated the FIRST ENEMY which is YOU.
This is NOT about control.
It is about integration.
Do not control.
Do not force – anything.
Before engaging in the battles of life can become a successful enterprise you therefore MUST face yourself first.
Even if it takes decades, like it did with me.
You do not skip the first enemy.
YOU.
Be quicker.
Be smarter.
And face it.
Head on.
